Who has chosen to locate in Beaver County... Union Pacific Railroad Milford, the closest community to the geographic center of Beaver County is the site of Southern Utah's only rail terminal. Milford has been served by rail since May 15, 1880. In 1921 the rail terminal came under the control of the Union Pacific Railroad as rail lines were being consolidated/extended from Salt Lake City to the Los Angeles Basin. Until very recently Union Pacific Railroad has been Beaver County's largest employer. Milford is the main employee base for UP between Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. With growth of the Las Vegas metropolitan area, the railyard at Milford is seeing increasing switching activity on the Salt Lake -- Los Angeles line. Union Pacific currently employs 125 people at its Milford terminal. Circle Four Farms Circle Four is currently the county's largest employer with over 450 employees. They are the largest supplier of animals for Farmer Johntm, California's best brand name in quality pork products. Circle Four has been an important force in Beaver County since 1992 when four integrated pork producers from North Carolina and Virginia joined forces to establish a pork production center serving the western US. Circle Four is currently a wholely owned subsidiary of Smithfield Foods. In 2004 Circle Four plans to place online a state of the art animal waste treatment system that will ultimately convert swine waste to biodiesel. The plant was approved and construct began in 2003. The plant should come online in the spring of 2004. See Best Biofuels United Parcel Service UPS has been a major employer in Beaver since 1981. UPS drivers shuttle freight between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. Currently UPS employs 31 people in the Beaver area.
